Call Center
 
A call center is a place where customer's telephone calls are handled by a company. Incoming calls are usually for customer product support or to provide information for customers with product inquiries. Most outbound calls are for telemarketing, product services or debt collection. A call center is an expansive workspace, with a station or cubicle with a computer for each call center agent, a telephony system connected to the internet. A call center can either be operated independently or networked with other call centers. Nowadays, most major businesses use a call center to provide services for their customers. Examples would be customer or technical support for for a particular company product. Businesses can also use a call center for internal business functions. Functions like data entry or appointment setting. In the past, customers might have needed to go to the company in person to ask for assistance, now they can just contact the company by calling the customer support number, by emailing, visiting the company website or chatting online. There are several types of call centers. There's the contact center were customers interaction are done through a variety of media that are not limited to telephony or e-mail. There's the inbound call centers that only handles calls initiated by the customer. Similarly, there's the outbound call center where the call center agents are the ones making calls to the customers. Finally, there's the blended call center, where there's a combination of inbound and outbound calls.

Call center jobs are any job revolving around the phone or data entry function done remotely in nature.  Customer call centers are often found to be related to call center services.  The customer service call center as a whole is represented by the call center agents and consists of many call center operations.  As call center outsourcing spreads call center careers play a bigger roll in the overall call center employment.

A BPO can also otherwise be known as a call center. An internal company inbound customer service can take out a huge chunk of investment. An in-house call center will require a vast amount of space and technology and also a handful of staff to handle the phone calls.
